Git
I'll resist the apparently irresistible urge which faces the internet on a daily basis: to pun on the name of this fast version control system (though at gunpoint I'd probably choose 'Git back to where you once belonged').
In any case, what is it about Git that makes it so irresistible to geeks? I've been playing with it for a week -- some of it sensibly, within the context of projects -- some of it for no reason, when sleeping would be much more necessary. I like reading about it.
What's even funnier is how many people seem to be talking about git on their blogs in exciting half-explanations. As soon as they start to get git, as people keep saying, they feel the need to talk about it. This is partly, of course, to spread the word, however one gets the sense that it's equally to convince themselves that they understand it.
