Buzzcocks
Enjoying Another Music in a different Kitchen (1978). They're like the Sex Pistols, but more talented, less annoying, and they sing love songs.
When I don't know what to do
I just think about me and you
If I was a little stronger then I'd be bold
I've been thinking a lot about the problem of pervasive romanticism, that now the romantics hardly need to be read, so embedded have they become in songs and movies that are unavoidable at least in Western childhood. `Fiction Romance' sums the problem up pretty concisely, in a way that's much better than its lyrics somehow. No surprise that Peter McNeish became Pete Shelley.
Wondering if Blondie's 'I Know But I Don't Know' is inspired by 'Moving Away From the Pulsebeat'... sadly I just looked up the lyrics and it's 'You know you know you know you know now', and not 'You know you know you know you don't know' like I had heard it. But maybe a similar apprehension was prompted a pop song. Stupider things have happened.
